The answer in 30 seconds

The same product family name can refer to different experiences. Instructions for a workplace application may not describe a personal web account.

Record the product, account type and environment first. Use the help for that actual experience, then test a small public task you can verify.

Examples to adapt

A tutorial shows a missing command

Compare its product, account and version with yours before troubleshooting.

A work file is unavailable

Use the authorised support route; do not move it to a personal account to evade a restriction.

Follow the method

  1. 1
    Identify the environment

Are you using the Copilot website, an office application or a managed device? Note the app and account without recording credentials.

  2. 2
    Choose a limited task

Ask for an outline, a rewrite or an explanation of a public text. Define the expected length and what must remain unchanged.

  3. 3
    Check permissions

Before processing work documents, review your organisation’s rules and the application’s access. Do not infer permissions from the name Copilot.

  4. 4
    Validate the output

Compare with the source document and open references. Preserve exceptions and qualifications that affect the conclusion.

A checklist to keep

Use these checks to record what you found. The grid supports a decision; it does not make one for you.
