Everyday practical guides

Compare second-hand products with an evidence sheet

Compare listings using documented features: reference, condition, accessories and known total cost. “Excellent condition” should lead to specific details rather than being treated as an identical measurement across sellers.

The method

  1. Define the model or use required and essential criteria. Record exact reference, description, photographs and displayed seller identity for each listing.
  2. Connect each claim to available material: a readable photograph, precise description or response received. Mark an accessory “not specified” if absent from the text; do not assume inclusion or exclusion without clarification.
  3. Compare known prices including fees, delivery and scope differences. Prepare necessary questions about condition or terms before deciding.

Fictional worked example

In a fictional example, one device costs 80 units with a described accessory and another 70 without details. The sheet notes the price difference but retains “accessory to confirm”. It does not automatically treat the 70-unit offer as a better deal.

The record to keep

Keep listing address, date, features, visible material and questions. Separate seller statements from observations you could make yourself.

What this method can establish

The sheet is not a product test or fraud guarantee. Photographs and answers may not establish actual condition.
