The method
- Find the organisation’s published role description and record place, tasks, dates and contact. Distinguish general activities from a specific role currently offered.
- Describe actual availability including travel and possible regularity. Note what you can do and what you want to learn without claiming qualifications you do not hold.
- Ask how joining works: supervision, preparation, schedule and stages before participation. Clarify missing points, then decide whether to continue the conversation.
Fictional worked example
A fictional role offers a two-hour workshop. You have two hours in total, but return travel takes forty minutes. Your sheet reveals the scheduling conflict and prepares a question about another slot instead of promising unrealistic availability.
The record to keep
Keep the role description, questions, replies and stated availability. Use the organisation’s official contact and store personal documents privately.
What this method can establish
The sheet confirms neither acceptance nor continued role availability. The organisation explains conditions, supervision and any required procedures.
